Reflexology: A Holistic Approach to Healing, Relaxation and Wellbeing.

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that uses specific hand, finger, and thumb techniques to apply pressure to reflex points on the feet, hands, and ears. It is based on the principle that these reflex points correspond to different organs and systems in the body, and that applying pressure to these points can improve the health and well-being of the whole body.

Reflexology is a safe and non-invasive therapy that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a holistic approach to healing that aims to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms of a particular condition. By stimulating the body’s natural healing mechanisms, reflexology can help to restore balance and promote a sense of relaxation and well-being.

What are the benefits of reflexology?

Reflexology has been shown to have a range of benefits for both physical and emotional health.

Some of the benefits of reflexology include:

  • Relieving stress and tension
  • Improving circulation and lymphatic flow
  • Reducing pain and inflammation
  • Boosting the immune system
  • Balancing hormones
  • Improving digestion and elimination
  • Promoting better sleep
  • Enhancing mood and reducing anxiety and depression
  • Supporting overall health and well-being

What can you expect during a reflexology session?

During a reflexology session, the therapist will first take a detailed medical history and ask about your current health concerns. You will then be asked to remove your shoes and socks and lie down on a comfortable treatment couch. The therapist will then use a range of different techniques to apply pressure to specific reflex points on your feet, hands, or ears, depending on your needs.

You may feel a mild to moderate pressure during the treatment, but it should not be painful. You will be encouraged to tell the therapist about how it feels, if a place seems particularly sensitive or uncomfortable. This feedback is important for the therapist to tailor the treatment accordingly.

Most people find reflexology to be a deeply relaxing and enjoyable experience.

A typical reflexology session lasts around 45 minutes.

Customer Experience – Sam Q

Like many people, Sam didn’t know much about reflexology when she started her journey with Susan Grainger Therapy. But, having been prescribed antidepressants and with menopause symptoms leaving her physically and emotionally drained, she knew she had to try something to get her health back on track.

Now, with 3 sessions under her belt and fortnightly appointments in the diary, she’s a huge advocate of the complementary therapy and has seen improvements in her breathing and digestion as well as her mood.

“I’d always been curious about reflexology,” Sam says, “but I’d never had any treatment. I didn’t really understand how it worked or if I’d even see any benefit but I thought at the very least it would be time for me to focus on myself and my own wellbeing.”

“How wrong I was! It’s so much more than just time to relax – I feel physically healthier and emotionally supported.”

Since starting her reflexology sessions Sam has seen her breathing become deeper and stronger and her digestive system improve to the extent that she has been able to significantly reduce the number of indigestion tablets she takes. “I know it’s the reflexology,” she said, “Because my system feels noticeably better after each session.”

As well as seeing improvements in her physical health, Sam has also benefited from other support that Susan offers, including being able to talk in a safe and confidential environment.

“There’s something about Susan that makes you trust her. She’s very intuitive and provides a level of care and attention that’s second to none. I always feel I have her undivided attention for the whole time I’m there.”

“She’s also incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to share her insight. Every time I leave it’s as though I take a little bit of her home with me, and keep her there to look after me until my next session.”
